Maiden, Mother, Crone, Triple Goddess

Maiden, Mother, Crone, where are you in your season?

The Maiden archetype is young, naive, innocent, pure, virgin, and powerless.

The mother archetype is the caregiver, nurturer, maternal, giver, and protector.

Crone is the archetype of power, wisdom, knowledge, teacher, and death.

Yet the definition of the crone has a negative connotation as the hag, an ugly, evil-looking older woman. Did you know that hag comes from the Greek word hagia, meaning holy one? But the patriarch hijacked the meaning to keep women desperately seeking the fountain of youth, a constant rejection of the natural flow of life. How many men seek a maiden to replace the crone only to find themselves in a relationship with a woman who is not in sync with their natural aging process? Sure, a maiden is easy to mold and manipulate because of her naivety, but she also will move into the mother archetype and want children. We have seen older men with young families who do not have the energy to engage in an active relationship with their children.

The imbalance of masculinity, power, and greed has taken its toll on the natural cycle of life. Some men seek to control their aging process with an external armpiece they call eye candy. Sure, women can be guilty of the same, but most focus on trying to look like the maiden with plastic surgery, fillers, or different kinds of youth in a bottle.

Aging is to be celebrated, not dismissed. Most men may chase fleeting youth, driven by their desires, leaving them drained and unfulfilled, but we are far more intelligent. Women need to focus on traveling through each season of life to arrive at their evolution. During our metamorphosis into the wise woman, we must pour into ourselves. We must stop chasing the clock to reverse time.

How do we transition gracefully? We remain open to the guidance that will arrive. The guidance is an archetypal energy that awakens you to who you are. Everything was born from the stars and will return from which it came. Venus is the goddess of love and beauty. She awakens us to our five senses on a deeper level, reminding us of the pleasures of life. As the maiden, we are in the season to find where we belong and who we spend our lives with. As mothers, we find joy as caregivers, nurturers, and protectors. But we feel invisible because we forget our needs and pleasures by giving too much. Because of this, we don't know who we will be when we enter the next season of The Crone. For a smooth transition, we can remember by inviting in a goddess who will remind us of who we are.

The goddess that appeared during the meditation is Goddess Ishatar. She first arrived as an orange flame and next as the morning star in a dream. The morning star is the planet Venus and represents all goddess energy. As the star floated over my uterus, she echoed, "Remember who you are." I also had a dream where I was in a doctor's office, and in every room I entered was a large poster with Stella in bold red letters. All I could hear was the voice shouting, Stella, Stella, Stella. The next day, I searched online to find out who this Stella person was that the voice so desperately wanted me to remember. That was until my son said, "You do know Stella means star?"

Okay, I thought, so Ishtar wants me to remember I am a star. At that moment, I opened up to the idea of discovering what I needed to know about stars. I learned how fascinating astrology is and so much about myself in my natal chart. One of the things that stood out is I am in my second Saturn Return. A Saturn Return happens every twenty-eight to thirty years. Saturn is the planet of achievement and responsibilities, the ruler of the tenth house of public reputation. And in your second Saturn Return, you are allowed to transform and become a version of yourself that is an accumulation of your life lessons, hence a wise woman. You have an opportunity to reimagine your life with no regrets. During this season, you celebrate yourself; fifties do not mean life is over. Life has just begun for you. Your menstrual cycle ends to close the mother chapter, giving you back your time to nurture yourself and your dreams.

I have achieved and learned so much about myself over the last ten years, and what assisted me was my desire to reconnect with spirituality and do the inner work of introspection. I learned so much, and I continue to learn more about myself. There is so much magic that surrounds us. But it is invisible until we seek the truth of who we are.

Because of my journey, I self-published She's Magic, The Enchanted Game of Life, and Empowered Enchantress, Unleashing Your Magical Potential Journal. I have fallen in love with the stars and the wisdom they share. But this is only the beginning for me. My only wish is to be your Muse, someone who inspires you to find your magic in the power of reinventing yourself.
